Candace Parker Ted Talk- “How to break down barriers and not accept limits”

More than just a basketball player, Candace Parker, a two time NCAA champion, two time Olympic gold medalist, two time WNBA MVP, two time WNBA champion but that is not all she is. Candace Parker is a mother to a twelve year old daughter, an entrepreneur, NBA analyst, and much more. 35 year old Candace who plays for the Chicago Sky WNBA team has leaped up on stage and had her own Ted talk. In her “How to break down barriers and not accept limits” Candace educates others on not settling for only one description.
She discuses her childhood nickname “Can Do” and how competitive she was as a kid and how she believed she can do everything and win. Candace slows down the talk in a serious tone about a time when Kamala Harris, the first African American and Asian Vice President, went into office. Candace looked at her daughter, Lailaa, “Now you can be vice-president too.”   Lailla replied back saying why couldn’t it be me before. That is when Candace realized that you have to break down those bad barriers that you were taught because it can be pulled into other generations. Candace Parker got into realization that she spent her life breaking barriers to become successful but came into reality that doing that created barriers for her daughter in which they didn’t even exist.
