Alex Pereira vs. Khalil Rountree Jr. to Headline UFC 307

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and superstar Alex Pereira is set to headline UFC 307 with Khalil Rountree Jr., making it his third main event in just seven months.

The activity of Pereira is something to behold and to be coveted. UFC fans so rarely see a champion that is willing to compete a couple times a year, let alone a few months. Pereira has put himself in the same category as Alexander Volkanovski, Israel Adesanya, and Kamaru Usman as champions who stay active and are constantly looking for a fight.

Pereira is most recently coming off of a win against Jiri Prochaska at UFC 303 in June, and having taken very little damage certainly helped. He was able to knock out Prochaska, a former champion, basically twice in the same fight. As he knocked Prochaska down seconds before the end of the first round, he then finished the job just after the second round started with a vicious left head kick that sent Prochaska to the canvas.

Rountree, however, should not be underestimated in any way, shape or form. Rountree has produced some of the most dominant performances one will ever see, especially his prolonged beating of Eryk Anders in April 2019.

His Muay Thai skills have been on display since his training camp for Anders, and has finished great fighters such as Gökhan Saki, Modestas Bukauskas, and Chris Daukaus within two rounds.

This fight is bound to be action packed, with both men being aggressive on the feet, and processing knockout power in both hands. Although Pereira will be the heavy favorite, Rountree is a vicious fighter in his own right and will be a tough test for the champion.

UFC 307 will take place on October 5, 2024 in Salt Lake City, Utah. This location has proven itself to be a tough place to fight due the altitude\, and will be a sure test of both fighter’s cardio.
