The Triple Threader - Apr. 17, 2023

Welcome to the Triple Threader, covering three stories from the world of pro wrestling.

Rebellion Results

Last night’s Impact Wrestling Rebellion was another sell out for the company. Among the events were two brand new world champions crowned. Steve Maclin defeated Kushida for the Impact World Championship, while Deonna Purrazzo bested Jordynne Grace, who is now a free agent, to become a three-time Knockouts World Champion. In addition, wrestling legend Santino Marella returned to the ring after 9 years away in a winning effort. You can see the full highlights below.

In the Nick of Time

2-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis made a stunning return to Impact Wrestling after an acrimonious exit from the NWA. On commentary, the British wrestler announced that he is back in Impact, quickly confronting new world champion Steve Maclin after his match. Aldis has been in the company before when it was known as TNA, being a former World and Tag Team Champion.

Double Cheers

Already holding the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championships, Aussie Open, consisting of Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis, became the new NJPW Strong Openweight Tag Team Champs by beating Hiroshi Tanahashi & Kazuchika Okada and titleholders the Motor City Machine Guns at Capital Collision this past weekend. Aussie Open now hold dual tag team gold in New Japan.
