A Preview of the Blast Premier Spring Final

The Blast Premier Spring Final starts today in Washington D.C. and consists of eight teams with a prize pool of $425,000.

The tournament is a single elimination bracket which means teams that lose two matches will be eliminated with each match being a best of three.

Vitality and Imperial will start off the tournament, with this being the first time we get to see the Blast Paris Major Winner’s Vitality play a match since their major win a few weeks ago.

Vitality comes into the tournament with an 87 percent win rate and not losing a single map during the entire major. I predict Vitality to sweep Imperial and send the Brazilian team to the lower bracket.

G2 and Cloud9 will be the next two teams to play after Vitality and Imperial. Cloud9 and G2 both had disappointing IEM Dallas performances that left their fanbases worried. Cloud9 also did not qualify for the major, and G2 was eliminated in the legends round without even making it to the main stage. I predict this match to be close and give the edge to G2 to win the series 2-1 with the series going all the way to map three.

Heroic and Complexity take the stage next, and this matchup has a similar feel to the first matchup of the day. Heroic are ranked second in the world and get through the beginning stages of every event only to struggle in the semifinals of IEM Dallas and the Paris Major. Complexity was not even invited to the event and only took a spot due to Natus Vincere (NAVI) having visa troubles getting into America. I predict Heroic to sweep Complexity as they aim to chase down their rivals Vitality.

FaZe and Astralis will finish off the first day of matches. Both teams come into this event with chips on their shoulders after both were eliminated from IEM Dallas on the main stage. Based off their respective performances at IEM Dallas, I give the edge to FaZe in this match to win a close 2-1 series if they can play at the level they did against ENCE in the semifinals at Dallas.

Overall, I see Vitality winning the entire event with teams like Heroic and FaZe being the close second and third.
