Gamers8 finished up on Sunday with Vitality a reverse sweep win against ENCE in the Grand Finals.

Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut was named the MVP of the event in a close race against Guy “NertZ” Iluz and Pawel “dycha” Dycha of ENCE.

ZywOo finished with a kill to death differential of (+55), third highest rating overall with a 1.26, and highest opening kills with 55 in total.

The Gamers8 MVP trophy brings ZywOo’s career total to 16 with him already winning three so far in the year 2023.

Other news from the event includes ENCE and G2 Esports having another impressive showing with both performing well at IEM Cologne just a few weeks ago.

G2 Esports were knocked out by Vitality in the semi-finals in a three-map match that came down to the wire on the decider map Mirage.

ENCE made it to another Grand Finals stage once again knocking off the number one team in the world at the time Heroic making it two straight series against the Danish team where ENCE have come away victorious.

The new HLTV World Rankings that came out today August 21, Vitality have taken the number one spot while ENCE crack the top three with them being ranked one spot lower than Heroic who they have beaten twice in a row at this point.

Team Liquid and Apeks had a poor showing once again with both being knocked out in the Round of 16 stage being shutout in both matches.

Teams that impressed me with their performance were Natus Vincere (NAVI), Virtus Pro, and Cloud9.

Cloud9 and NAVI have both been steadily improving with their new rosters each event as they are both looking more comfortable in their current schemes.

Virtus Pro has not been at a major event since IEM Katowice in 2022. The Russian team defeated FaZe and put up a good fight against G2 who made it to the semi-finals.

The next event starts in eight days and is the ESL Pro League Season 18 in Malta.
