Power Slap Competitions
If you think the UFC or Boxing is violent, just wait until you see/hear about Power Slap!
Power Slap was introduced in January of 2023 and has become a huge hit over the last year that it has been active. Combat sports fans now have another type of competition they can tune into for pure entertainment.
The Athletic Commission in Nevada has granted Power Slap a license, and it operates under regulations equivalent to those set forth by other slap fighting organizations. The opening slapper gives the opponent an open-handed slap after a coin toss determines who goes first.
Fighters alternately strike their opponents in their faces with open hands during Power Slap fights. After taking a hit, a fighter can recover and react for up to a minute only. While some shiver, others hardly twitch or quiver. A few are unconscioused, which leads to an automatic knockout win for the slapper. If they aren't knocked out, then they have the opportunity for a revenge slap.
A foul is called when someone tries to hide their chin to avoid the slap from making contact with their face. The strikers may then be awarded a second slap in their favor.
All in all, this is a very dangerous sport that many feel is pointless since competitors are receiving unnecessary punishment. Dana White, President of the UFC, has been in charge of organizing and promoting these events.
