Girardi has found himself get much of the blame for the Phillies lack of success, although most of the losses for this season coming in late games and the often struggles with the bullpen. Only three teams rank lower than the Phillies bullpen so far this season. Those teams being the Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, and the Colorado Rockies. In order to make this season a success the Phils need change and it would need to be relatively soon.

How Can The Phillies Improve?

The current lineup of the Phillies has seen many holes as of recently. But at the current moment, the biggest flaw they have is their pitching staff. With the trade deadline still months away, on Aug. 2, the Phillies need to find some pitching to bring into Citizens Bank Park. Some big names coming into free agency at the end of the season such as Jacob DeGrom, Noah Syndergaard, and also relief pitcher Will Smith. Although most of the names in free agency would call for big money. Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola’s contract will be up at the end of the season and it might be a smart move for the Phils to look elsewhere instead of resigning the former ace with the $16 million contract he is on at the current moment.
