Twins Gritty Extra Inning Win

The final game of a 3 game series between the Twins & White Sox was an extra-inning battle. The pitching matchup featured likely trade candidate Lucas Giolito facing off against Bailey Ober. The scoring would start in the top of the 2nd with an Eloy Jimenez solo HR, his 13th on the year. It traveled 414 ft with an exit-velo of 109.9 mph. Zach Remillard would hit his 1st homerun of the season the following inning, and an RBI single in the 5th to give the White Sox a 3 run lead.



Both starting pitchers would record quality starts. Ober’s final pitching line would be: 6 IP 2ER 0 BB 6 K, his ERA on the season is 2.76. As for Giolito, he would go 5 IP 0 ER 3 BB 9 K. Giolito would also reach a career milestone of 1,000 strikeouts.


On the bottom of the 9th, the Twins would rally to tie the game off closer Kendall Graveman. Matt Wallner would lead off the inning with a walk, followed by a single from Ryan Jeffers which would have the Twins with runners on 1st & 2nd base with no outs. Willi Castro would then double to the left center gap, scoring Wallner and putting runners on 2 & 3rd. Carlos Correra would hit a sacrifice fly, putting the Twins down by 1 run. Alex Kirilloff would double down the left field line evening the game at 3-3.



Johan Duran would enter the game to pitch the top of the 10th. He would strikeout Carlos Perez and get Andrew Bennintendi to ground out, putting Zach Remillard on 3rd. Tim Anderson would scorch an RBI double to right center, putting the Sox back on top.


The following inning in the bottom of the 10th, Kyle Farmer would hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 4. The Twins wouldn’t be able to score further in the 10th. Onto the bottom of the 12th, Kyle Farmer would single to open the inning, moving Joey Gallo to 3rd. The White Sox would intentionally walk Byron Buxton to load the bases with no outs. Christian Vasquez would hit into a crucial 6-2-3 double play. With 2 outs and Buxton at 3rd, Ryan Jeffers would single to right field, giving the Twins the victory and the series sweep of the White Sox.
