The Tampa Bay Rays Are Off to A Hot Start
Only 11 games into the 2023 season, the Tampa Bay Rays are off to a historic start being undefeated with a record of 11-0.
The Rays beat the Boston Red Sox Tuesday night 7-2, becoming the third team to start the season with 11 consecutive wins and the first since the 1987 Milwaukee Brewers.
The Rays have played 99 innings this season and only trailed after five of them, all of those coming in the game against the Washington Nationals on April 4. The Rays also matched the MLB record for the most home runs in the first 11 games of a season with 29, tied with the 2000 St. Louis Cardinals.
During an players-only meeting at the start of the season, the Rays emphasized that even though they were coming off their fourth consecutive postseason appearance, this was a new year, bringing opportunity to play like the team they believed they could be.
Will the Rays will continue their success, or come back to earth when their schedule gets tougher?
