The Dodgers Claim The NL West

Phoenix, AZ - After securing a 4-0 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Los Angeles Dodgers reign tall yet again over the NL West.

Securing the NL West is nothing new for the Dodgers. From 2013 to 2020, the team has claimed this accolade every year. It’s not necessarily the main goal of theirs, but is now more like a second nature, which was true up until last year. After not securing the title in 2021, this year was a bounce back season as they reclaimed the NL West Tuesday night.

β€œThat was first on our list. To get the division back in Los Angeles.”
— Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts

Leading the win was none other than Clayton Kershaw. This wasn’t the first time he started an NL West clinching game, and seeing the way he looked, it might not be his last. Looking back, he clinched games in the 2009, 2014, and 2015 seasons for the Dodgers when they were in the same spot.

Kershaw, even in the twighlight years of his career, was a star on the mound and an integral part in winning this game for the Dodgers. He had seven scoreless innings and five strike outs which helped keep the Diamondbacks at a score of zero.

β€œHow fitting, right? We have a chance to clinch the division and Clayton’s on the mound for us again and gave us seven unbelieveable innings.”
— Designated Hitter Justin Turner

Now coming back from a one year loss of the NL West in 2021, the Dodgers look at this win as a chance to bring their streak back alive. This marks their twentieth division title as a franchise and their ninth within the last ten years.

After being the first team to claim a playoff spot in the MLB the night before securing their division title, it’s safe to say this team is riding in on an all time high.
