Reds comeback for 11th straight win

Losing is not in the vocabulary for the 2023 Cincinnati Reds. Just a day after the return of Joey Votto, the Reds found themselves down 3-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth. It seemed that the streak would end at ten. Yet that all changed when Luke Maile came up to bat with the bases loaded.

Suddenly, the Reds found themselves back in the driver’s seat, no one out now down by one. The very next batter TJ Friedl knocked another base hit to tie the game at three. Outside of the three home runs given up by Andrew Abbott, he held the door down the rest of the way, throwing six innings with ten strikeouts and three walks. It remained tied until the bottom of the eighth when Jake Fraley found himself up with a runner on second with the streak on his back.

Fraley hits a home run on the first pitch he sees against Daniel Bard to break the tie and allow the Reds to continue their winning streak, now at 11 games, their longest since 1957.

At least three Reds batters at two hits, Jake Fraley, Elly De La Cruz, and Tyler Stevenson who had three on the day. Randal Grichuk lead the offense for the Rockies, hitting a home run with two hits and two strikeouts. The Reds take an off day Thursday, looking to continue their winning streak against the Atlanta Braves on Friday. They are 40 - 35 on the year, first in their division. The Rockies get a rest as well before facing the Angels on Friday. They are 29-48 on the season, fifth in the NL West.
