Series Recap: Angels vs. Braves
Game 1
Shohei Ohtani did not give up a single run until the seventh inning. The game unraveled when Matt Olson hit a two-run home run for the Braves.
After a base hit from Eddie Rosario and a three-run home run from Orlando Arcia, the game was brought to 6-0. In a singular inning, Ohtani gave up seven runs and six hits.
The Braves’ offense did not stop there. Marcell Ozuna hit a 410-foot bomb into left-center field. In the bottom of the eighth and an 8-0 lead, things were looking good for Atlanta. The Angels then scored one run off of Will Smith in the ninth inning, but ultimately Ohtani’s fatal seventh-inning led to a disappointing game for the Angels.
Game 2
Game two was just as disastrous as game one for the Angels. In the bottom of the first inning, Patrick Sandoval gave up three hits and two runs. Ohtani hit a 361-foot home run in the fifth, but the Angels’ offense could not keep up with Atlanta.
The Braves won the game 7-2, putting them at the top of the National League East.
Game 3
The Angles started game three off strong. In the top of the first, the Angels brought in five runs and six hits, including a dinger from Taylor Ward. In addition, Reid Detmers threw five scoreless innings, while the Angeles’ offense dominated the game.
Although the Angels ended the game victoriously, they remain fourth in the American League West.
