Sal Frelick has Historic MLB Debut
Milwaukee - On Saturday, Sal Frelick had a debut for the ages, one that not even he could have seen coming. The 2021 first-round draft pick and 17th overall prospect in the majors went 3-3 versus the Atlanta Braves in a critical game that helped keep the Brewers ahead of the Cincinnati Reds in the NL Central standings. On top of his 3-3 night at the plate which included driving in game tying and go-ahead run, Frelick also made two outstanding plays in right field to keep the Brewers within a run in the sixth inning.
Frelickβs performance was the first time in Milwaukee Brewers history that a player has recorded three plus hits and two runs batted in their major league debut. He also became the sixth player in the last 25 seasons to have three hits and a game-winning RBI in the MLB. In his first at bat, Frelick beat out an infield single, showing off one of his best assets in his speed. In his next two at bats, he singled to right and left field before hitting a sacrifice fly in his last at bat to bring in what ended up being the winning run.
It was an exciting and much anticipated debut for Frelick and he certainly lived up to the expectations that the franchise and fans had for him in his first game. Heβll look to continue to build on his debut down the stretch of this season with the Brewers pushing for a division title. They play again on Sunday, looking to take the series at home against the Braves. If Sal Frelickβs debut showed baseball fans anything, itβs that the Brewers might finally have some young homegrown talent to get excited about.
