Red Sox Make Last Minute Acquisition
During a high-powered trade deadline for the MLB the Red Sox were a little quiet as for their big-league roster. But right before the deadline today the Sox added some infield depth in the form Luis Urias in a trade from the Milwaukee Brewers. The full trade included Brewer’s trading Luis Urias to the Red Sox in exchange for Bradley Blalock, a minor league arm. Although Urias is in AAA for Milwaukee and struggled this year at the big-league level slashing .145/.299/.236 good for a .535 OPS. Although he has been struggling, he could fit with the Red Sox with what they have going on roster wise. Now Urias has had big league success in his career but would serve more as a gold glove caliber player rather than a big bat for the club. For the Red Sox, who are not looking to go all out this season, Urias provides a stable waiting period as the team waits for All-Star Shortstop Trevor Story and let star minor leaguer Marcelo Meyer continue to grow in the minors. Luis Urias is a good fit for the Red Sox and should be a nice addition when he returns to the majors from his hamstring injury early in the year.
