Recapping Giancarlo Stanton’s Crazy Week
Last week Yankees superstar DH Giancarlo Stanton had a career week. And it was amplified because these games were played against a fierce rival in the midst of a playoff push.
During last week Stanton batted .409 with a 1.440 OPS, and also had 4 homers and 13 RBIs. Stanton earned player of the week honors for the 7th time in his career. The week was not so crazy until his series against the Red Sox this past weekend. In that series Stanton went 7-13 with 3 homers and 10 RBIs. That put him in a category with legends such as Ruth and Gehrig who were the only other Yankees to have such ludicrous series’.
What I find to be so crazy about these home runs is how hard Stanton hit them and how far they went. Stanton hits the ball harder and further than anyone in the MLB. This weekend his home runs had distances of, 386, 452, and 448 feet and exit velos of 108, 114 and 116 MPH off the bat. For most guys those would be the hardest ball they might hit in their career and Stanton did it 3 TIMES in 3 DAYS.
If Stanton continues doing this the Yankees could become top contenders in the American League. And have a possibility to make a World Series push.
