Bring The Gold!

It’s time to win some gold for the Padres! In the 2022 season, after the trade deadline, offseason trade and signings, expectations are higher for the Padres. The city of San Diego dressed in brown & gold or mint green & pink, the Friar Faithful are ready for the 2023 season to start. In January, more than 48,000 fans showed up for Fan Fest to support the Padres. The saying of San Diego is a sports town is back thanks to the Padres.

How is the starting rotation?

Blake Snell got the nod for Opening Day. Many speculated that Yu Darvish will start for opening day. However, Darvish pitched limited during the World Baseball Classic. Darvish translator pointed out “It was unique Spring Training this season right now. Team Japan was trying to win the whole thing there and for those reasons I wasn’t able like build up as I would, if I was in regular Spring Training so there a little bit concern there.” Darvish is not quite ready to make his regular season start. Still needs to get in touch with the pitching coach Ruben Nebula and manager Bob Melvin. Also the adjustments to the new rules for the 2023 season.

Joe Musgrove won’t make his regular season start quite yet. Musgrove is returning after getting injured after a workout early on Spring Training. The timetable for Musgrove to return is during mid April. Not far from now, but will be put in the IL the start of the season.

Rotation as of now:

  1. Blake Snell

  2. Nick Martinez

  3. Micheal Wacha

  4. Seth Lugo

  5. Adrian Morejon

  6. Yu Darvish (No timetable when he will make his regular season start)

The Lineup

This offence lineup is stacked. Batters 1-9 from the lineup have a lot of power or can reach on base. A reminder that Tatis returns on April 20th. So how would this lineup will be with or without Tatis? When Tatis returns, he will be either batting at the leadoff position or in the two hole. Most of Tatis Spring Training starts has been in right field. Juan Soto is shifting to right field to left field this season. It’s also showed that Tatis won’t be playing much in the shortstop position. That position has been taken with the signing of Xander Bogarts.

  1. Trent Grisham

  2. Juan Soto

  3. Manny Machado

  4. Xander Bogarts

  5. Jake Croneworth

  6. Ha Seong Kim

  7. Matt Carpenter / Nelson Cruz

  8. Rougned Odor

  9. Austin Nola
