Pre-Series for the San Diego Padres VS Cincinnati Reds

The San Diego Padres split the series against the Atlanta Braves to complete their first home stand. The Padres record is 6 - 5 barely making out over .500. With hometown hero Joe Musgrove pitching last Thursday night with their first win at home. Followed by MacKenzie Gore with an impressive MLB debut for the Padres, which unfortunately lost late in the game. Then Nick Martinez took the ball with both the offense and defense not clicking which resulted in a 2-5 loss on a Saturday afternoon game. The finale of the series was followed by Yu Darvish with a Padres win to split the series with the Atlanta Braves.

The preview for the next San Diego Padres homestand series is against the Cincinnati Reds. With the starting rotation with Sean Manaea to start off for Monday’s game, followed by Joe Musgrove and the finale of the series with MacKenzie Gore looking for his first win in the Major leagues.

The offense for the San Diego Padres needs improvement in order to win the series. With Manny Machado, Jake Croneworth and Austin Nola being consistent with at bats. The Padres need to look into the big picture and play fundamental baseball and not look for that one big hit for a home run. The San Diego Padres rank 22nd in MLB’s runners in scoring position with 3.73 percentage.

The opponent for the San Diego Padres is the Cincinnati Reds. Despite the Reds starting off with a slow start. A 2-8 record and the team that recently got swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers. How would the San Diego Padres as a team contribute with this series? The San Diego Padres are looking for their first series win at home. The question is can they do it?
