Phillies to Pursue Bryan Reynolds

The Philadelphia Phillies have shown interest in Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder Bryan Reynolds.

The Athletic’s Jim Bowden said the team is “aggressively pursuing” Reynolds.

Reynolds, 26, was an All-Star in 2021 and finished 11 in NL MVP voting.

In 2021, Reynolds appeared in 159 games with a slash line of .302/.390/.522. Reynolds drove in 90 RBIs with 24 home runs and 8 triples, which tied for the most in Major League Baseball.

Contractually, Reynolds is under team control through 2025 and hits unrestricted free agency in 2026.

MLB Network insider Jon Heyman said the asking price for Reynolds is thought to be “astronomical.”

A price tag that high could be difficult for the Phillies, whose farm system ranked 27 out of 30 in MLB.com’s Aug. 25 ranking.

The New York Yankees and Miami Marlins are among other teams pursuing the Pirates All-Star outfielder.
