His speed contributed to the Mets’ win over the Pirates and allowed New York to come within inches of bagging the NL East. The Mets hold a one game lead against the Braves for the title after the Pirates sweep.

The Mets didn’t stop there, though. Monday night they blew out the Brewers, coming out on top 7-2. With this win, the Mets clinched a playoff spot for the first time since 2016.

Scherzer, who was on the injury list just weeks ago, was one of the most valuable players of the game Monday night. Making his debut after his fifteen day absence on the injury list, Scherzer pitched six perfect innings and had nine strikeouts, lowering his ERA on the season to 2.15.

Not only that, but Scherzer also claimed his 200th career win, proving he is back in the game for good and still dominating.

With so many outstanding players, the Mets are a powerful team going into playoffs. Between Pete Alonso’s hitting, Chris Bassitt and Max Scherzer’s impressive pitching, and Jeff McNeil’s batting average upwards of .300, this team is stacked with talent.

Not to mention, Gore won multiple World Series titles as a pinch-running specialist. Whose to say that he can’t help in bringing a team to the World Series, but this time for the Mets?
