The L.A. Dodgers have one of the most classic baseball uniforms within the league of major league baseball. Whether it is being worn on the field by players or by Elton John in 1975 during one of his performances; the blue and white uniforms, with the iconic script format and red jersey numbers are recognizable to any baseball fan. However this season there has been a change in the uniform. The team has taken the notable L.A. off of the left sleeve. Although, this is not a major change it is a noticeable one. The abbreviation has been there for over 20 years, starting in 2000 when they first added it to the uniforms worn during home games.

In March, there was a new contract agreement that now allows MLB teams to wear advertisements on their uniforms and helmets, as long as they are within a certain size. This could possibly be one of the reasons for getting rid of the L.A. on the sleeve. Allowing the team to have more room on that sleeve so they can promote companies and bring in more money. Other sports such as major league soccer have had this agreement for a while and can be seen worn by different teams within the league.
