Judge Goes For Sixty One

Aaron Judge is right on the cusp of history. Not only can Judge surpass Roger Maris’ record of sixty one homers in the American League, but he can also secure the AL Triple Crown as well.

Roger Maris set his home run record in 1961, before the start of the steroid era. Since the steroid era spanned across multiple seasons, there were numerous players who blew passed Maris’ record of sixty one, which left him at seventh on the MLB list for the most homers hit in a single season. The highest being Barry Bonds securing seventy three, twelve more than Maris, in the 2001 season.

Looking at Aaron Judge’s position amongst the most single-season home runs in the MLB, he stands at 8th place tied with Babe Ruth, obviously good company to be around. Not only that, but Judge is ranked third for hitting sixty home runs in the fastest time, taking him only 147 games.

Though it is impressive that Judge climbed into the top ten for the most homers hit in a single season and has gotten there relatively fast, his focus is more on gaining the title for the most homers hit in the American League.

Judge has continued to prove that not only is he a valuable asset to the Yankees, but that he also has the potential to go down in MLB history. His record homers hit this season have mainly been in the spotlight. However, so have the rest of his batting statistics.

Judge has a batting average of .316, has 128 RBI’s, and 123 runs on top of the sixty home runs he has already this season.

This is exactly what Judge said after hitting his sixtieth home run. This shows not only Judge’s humble nature, but also proves that he is all in and confident that his dream is about to become a reality.
