Gerrit Cole Shuts Out The Twins Continuing His Dominant Start
The New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole continued his dominant start to the 2023 season shutting out the Minnesota Twins on Sunday.
Cole fired 10 strikeouts, only allowing just three base runners all day on a single and a walk. He recorded 27 outs with a total of 109 pitches, making it his fourth career complete game shutout.
The right-hander has been in complete control of his pitches through his four starts dominating his opponents.
Cole has given up just three runs across 28 ¹/₃ innings so far, posting a 0.95 ERA, 32 strikeouts, and a 4-0 record. He became the first Yankees pitcher in franchise history to record a sub-1.00 ERA and at least 30 strikeouts through his first four appearances of a season since the earned run became an official stat in 1913.
The 32-year-old has yet to allow a home run this season after getting tagged for an American League-high 33 last season.
