Top Five Dodger Prospects For The 2023 Season
Spring training gives organizations a chance to get extended looks at some of their top prospects, some of whom will make an impact at some point at the big league level.
Five top prospects for the Dodgers, Bobby Miller, Gavin Stone, Diego Cartaya, Jonny DeLuca, and Michael Busch.
Bobby Miller (RHP) - Last season Miller went 7-7 with a 4.25 ERA between Double-A and Triple-A. Miller will start in Triple-A but he is also possibly making his Major League debut this season. He has also been throwing in the bullpen sessions in Spring training.
Gavin Stone (RHP) - Stone had a 1.48 ERA in 25 appearances with the High-A Great Lakes and Triple-A. Stone hasnโt made an impact like Miller has but Stone doesnโt go not noticed.
Diego Cartaya (C) - In order for Cartaya to take the next step, heโll have to continue to develop as a defender and game-caller. His offense has never been in question, as he already possesses one of the best bat-to-ball tools in the Dodgersโ organization. With Will Smith and Austin Barnes both playing in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, Cartaya will get an extended look in Spring Training.
Jonny DeLuca (OF) - DeLuca was a surprising addition to the 40-man roster this offseason, but the Dodgers are high on the outfielderโs ability to hit for power. Last season, DeLuca posted a .888 OPS between High-A Great Lakes and Double-A. He will also most likely start the season in Triple-A.
Michael Busch (2B) - His ability at the plate has never been questioned. He finished with a .881 OPS between Double-A and Triple-A last season. If Busch wants to make an impact for this season he needs to prove that he can defensively handle second base.
