Charlie Morton’s 2021 Season Comes to an Unfortunate End

2 Innings into the 2021 World Series and Charlie Morton is done for the year. After taking a ball off the leg from Yuli Gurriel, Morton fractured his right fibula and will be unable to pitch for the remainder of this series. As sad as it is to see Morton go down in the brightest of lights, he still showcased that he still has “IT” and will be even more motivated to come back in 2022…hopefully with a Braves World Series ring on his finger.

Though turning 38 at the end of this season, Morton was able to slot himself as a great #2/#3 pitcher in Atlanta’s rotation, so much so that the Braves decided to void his pending free agency from his 1 Year - $15M Contract that he originally signed during the 2020 offseason.

On September 6th, 2021; The Braves signed Morton to a 2 Year - $16M Contract with an $8M Option for 2024.
