Brewers Hold Slim Lead in Central
Freddy Peralta and The Brew Crew stave off the red-hot Reds in a 3-0 victory Wednesday Afternoon. Peralta himself started the game out with five straight strikeouts, pitching six innings and tying his career high in strikeouts at 13. For the Reds was Blake Lively who was pitching a great game as well, pitching into the seventh, striking out three, and walking no one. In fact, there were no walks by either side until two outs in the bottom of the eighth when Fernando Cruz walked Sal Frelick.
It was in the Seventh that Tyrone Taylor, who has been with the Brewers since 2019, and has been up and down this year, came up to the plate with a runner on and one out.
It was Taylor’s first home run since May 4th and his first RBI since May 22nd. The Brewers would score another run thanks to Andruw Monasterio’s double in the eighth.
Every Reds hitter had a strikeout on them with the exception of Joey Votto. In fact, Matt McLain took the Golden Sombrero with four strikeouts.
The win allowed the Brewers to stay a game and a half up from the Reds at 57-46 where the Reds are at 56-48. The two teams will get a day off tomorrow.
