astros: with or without correa

Now that baseball is back on, the Houston Astros are on the clock to try and get Carlos Correa to sign with them yet again. Correa has been a staple in the organization for seven years and helped them to win the World Series in 2017. The shortstop is a free agent and he wants more money and play in a bigger market. He also wants to play with the Astros and loves the city of Houston. The last game of the season he said , “To the fans, I want to say thank you for your support,My time here was amazing, the seven greatest years of my life. I got here as a boy, turned into a man, grew in this city, and the fans embraced me. So, this has been my home. This is my home now. So I'm grateful for everybody."

It was reported earlier this month that Correa had put up his 1.6 million mansion, which could be an indicator of a departure or maybe he was looking for something bigger or nicer. He does have a wife and child and surely to have more kids in the future. No one knows the reason but Astros fans such as myself can only hope the second reason is the case.

Many of the remaining Astros such as Lance McCullers, Alex Bregman and Jose Altuve are trying to convince him to stay. It isn’t up to them unfortunately because the Astros owner Jim Crane has to be willing to pay him. The Astros have some great talent and have signed Justin Verlander back on for a year. They have also signed to a minor league contract Lewis Brinson who was with Mariners last year but has yet to show a fighting presence on the field. The Astros will need Carlos’ veteran expertise, his home run capability and depth to lead this time into another World Series run. If they can’t get him signed than they will have to find a shortstop who is just as valuable as he was to the team. Everyone in Houston will be anticipating as the negotiations continue..
