AL Central preview

With the MLB season just a week away let’s take a whip around each division’s standings according to yours truly!

Minnesota Twins

Their bats separate the Minnesota Twins from the rest of this division. The same can not be said for the rest of the American League but for the sake of winning this division, it should be enough. The pitching for Minnesota is something that they will need to address at the trade deadline. For now, however, that lineup should be good enough.

Detroit Tigers

This feels a lot like the 2022 campaign for the Detroit Tigers, a team that just came off an overachieving season only to fall dramatically short the following year. Still, the difference between that one and this year has to be the Detroit Tigers bullpen. It could be one of the best in the American League. Mixed with second baseman Colt Keith who could be in the running for AL Rookie of the year and the Tigers should put together a very competitive group this season.

Cleveland Guardians

The Guardians have the firepower to be competitive this season, especially with third baseman Jose Ramirez who for my money is the best hitter in this division. The problem that the Guardians will run into is their bullpen. I’m not sold on Cleveland coming out of the AL Central, but my stance on them could change if they address their bullpen, and the biggest question mark being first-year manager Stephen Vogt.

Kansas City Royals

Bobby Whitt Jr. has the ability this year to showcase himself on this Kansas City Royals team because it's only him that will put up numbers in this lonely Royals team. Their starting pitching could do something this year that keeps them afloat for a little bit, but getting 70 wins would be huge moving forward. Second-year manager Matt Quatraro will need to prove that he can be there for the future.

Chicago White Sox

It’s been a brutal past couple of seasons for Southside’s baseball team. One of the biggest disappointments in the MLB. Just a few years ago they put together a possible contender for years to come and be at the top of the AL Central, but that completely turned on its head last season. Hopefully, they can pull off some sort of savvy trade or get a big free agent signing for outfielder Luis Robert Jr., because they could look to trade Luis Robert Jr. if they feel this is a lost cause.
