Adley Rutschman: All-Star Game and Home Run Derby Participant
Second-year sensation Adley Rutschman has been proving why he was taken first overall by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2019 MLB Draft. After losing a close fan vote for the American League starting catcher spot in the All-Star Game, Rutschman was still selected as an all-star, the first selection of his young career. Rutschman currently sits at a .272 batting average with 11 home runs and 36 runs batted in.
Not only is Adley Rutschman appearing in his first All-Star Game, but it was announced that he would be competing in the Home Run Derby as well. Rutschman looks to be the third ever Oriole to win the event, along with Cal Ripken Jr. and Miguel Tejada. It will be interesting to see Adley’s approach to the derby considering he is a switch hitter. Rutschman is set to face Luis Robert Jr. in the first round.
